This website is operated by Darby Bailey McDonough, Ph.D., through PIP Projects Inc., South Carolina. References to “we,” “us,” or “our” refer to PIP Projects Inc. and its associated brands, including darbybailey.com, digitalsidewalklab.com, gravel9.com, kirlnetworks.com, kirl.tv, and pipprojects.com.

Questions regarding this policy may be directed to us using the details in Contact below.

2. Information We Collect

This website does not operate its own contact forms, user accounts, or data collection systems. We collect minimal data and only through the following channels:

  • Newsletter subscription — If you subscribe to The Digital Sidewalk Newsletter via the Beehiiv platform, you provide your email address directly to Beehiiv. We receive subscriber data through that platform. See Beehiiv’s privacy policy at beehiiv.com/privacy.
  • Server logs — Standard web server logs may record IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, and page access times for security and performance purposes. These are not linked to personal identity and are routinely deleted.
  • Analytics — If analytics services are active, aggregate, anonymized traffic data may be collected. No personally identifiable information is gathered for analytics purposes.

3. How We Use Information

Newsletter subscriber information is used solely to send the The Digital Sidewalk Newsletter and related communications you have opted into. We do not sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party for marketing purposes.

4. Third-Party Services

This site uses the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Beehiiv — Newsletter delivery platform. beehiiv.com/privacy
  • Google Analytics 4 — Visit counts and page usage, only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google Fonts — Web fonts loaded from Google servers. Google may collect limited data per its privacy policy. policies.google.com/privacy
  • Cloudflare — Web infrastructure, DNS, and performance services. cloudflare.com/privacypolicy

Links to social media platforms (X, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Medium) are provided for your convenience. Those platforms are governed by their own privacy policies when you visit them.

5. Cookies

This site uses Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) to count visits and see which pages are useful. They are off by default and are set only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. If you click Reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, Google Analytics is not loaded.

Your choice is saved in your browser (not in a cookie) for 12 months. You can change it at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page; choosing Reject deletes the analytics cookies already set.

Cloudflare, which hosts this site, may set a strictly necessary security cookie (for example __cf_bm) to protect the site from bots. It is not used for tracking and does not require consent.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable privacy law, including:

  • GDPR (EU/EEA residents) — Right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data; right to data portability; right to object; right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
  • CCPA (California residents) — Right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete it, the right to opt out of sale (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination.
  • All users — You may unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the unsubscribe link in any newsletter email.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in Contact below. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Retention

Newsletter subscriber data is retained for as long as you are an active subscriber. Upon unsubscribing, your data is handled per Beehiiv’s data retention policies. Server logs are retained for no more than 90 days.

8. Children’s Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, contact us using the details in Contact below and we will delete it promptly.
